Stephane Chamberland

Stephane is a globally recognized drummer, clinician, educator, and accomplished author in the field of drumming. Currently, he is an active freelancer collaborating with a diverse array of bands, lending his rhythmic talents to live performances and studio recordings. Notably, he is the drummer of The Carl Mayotte Fusion Quintet.

With a dynamic career spanning borders, Steph has delivered an extensive portfolio of drum clinics and masterclasses in countries such as the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Europe, Brazil, and China. His performance history includes appearances at renowned events such as the Cape Breton Drum Festival 2008 (Nova Scotia), the Taipei International Percussion Summer Camp 2008/2009 (Taipei National University of the Arts), the Da Dong Tian Xia Music Concert 2008 (Shanghai Grand Theatre), the Batuka International Drum Festival 2013 (Brazil), and the Shanghai International Percussion Camp 2008(Shanghai), to name a few. He has also shared his expertise at institutions like the Benny Lim SG Drum Academy (Singapore), the Capitale DrumFest 2015 (Quebec City), the Chris Lesso Drum School (Toronto), and the Drumming Lab (Paris). Notably, Stéphane has been a featured artist at influential drumming platforms such as Drumeo in 2019 (Vancouver), the KoSA 24 Drum & Percussion Camp 2019 (Montréal), the Drumeo North American Live Hang 2022 (Toronto, Ontario), and the Angelillo International Drumfest 2022, among many others.

Beyond his performance commitments, he maintains a bustling schedule of private teaching, offering guidance to students worldwide through online coaching and at his well-established studios in Quebec City, Canada. His teaching programs are celebrated for their intensity, uniqueness, and personalized approach.

Steph's journey in drumming has been enriched by his tutelage under esteemed mentors from across the globe, including Dom Famularo, Jim Chapin, Paul Brochu, Rick Gratton, Robby Ameen, Jeff Salem, Paul DeLong, Joe Bergamini, John Favicchia, Aldo Mazza, Memo Acevedo, Eduardo Guedes, Richard Irwin, Claus Hessler, and Frank Belluci. He furthered his education at the Manhattan School of Music, studying under the guidance of John Riley and Bobby Sanabria, and at the Conservatory of Music in Quebec City.

His passion for education and writing has propelled him into a prominent role in the music publishing world. He is the co-author of the books The Weaker Side, Accenting The Weaker Side, Drumset Duets, and Pedal Control (Wizdom Media – Alfred Publishing). Additionally, he has meticulously edited the latest editions of universally acclaimed drumming books, Stick Control and Accents and Rebounds, authored by George Lawrence Stone. His articles have graced the pages of distinguished magazines like Modern Drummer, Canadian Musician, and Percussive Notes, and he has been featured in publications such as Drums Etc and Classic Drummer Magazine.
